Royal Hawaiian Hotel Brought to you by Panda Travel ®.
The Royal Hawaiian is a 4.5-star hotel located on the beautiful shores of Waikiki Beach. The hotel made its debut back in 1927 where it became an instant hit with the rich and famous, from Shirley Temple to Joe DiMaggio. It has become the most celebrated landmark on Waikiki Beach and guests delight in the Moorish-Spanish design, soaring turrets and pink stucco - the Dame of Waikiki.
The 12-acre beachfront property features tropical trees and lush gardens with many amenities to enjoy, including an ocean side swimming pool with the shallow end roped off for children and a food and beverage service. The beach area in front of the hotel is sectioned off for guests of The Royal Hawaiian, where attendants set up lounge chairs, beach umbrellas and towels. There is also nightly entertainment at the Mai Tai Bar and a wonderful luau every Monday night on the Ocean Lawn.
Other property amenities include a flower lei greeting upon arrival, arrival amenity of banana nut bread as well as a departure amenity, escorted check-in, 24 hour room service, hospitality suite for early arrivals and late departures, valet parking, 20 gift and specialty shops and an in-house salon. The Abhasa Waikiki Spa offers natural, organic treatments to relax and heal the body, including shiatsu, body wraps, traditional Hawaiian and many others.
For children 8 to 12, The Royal Hawaiian offers the Keiki Aloha Program that is held right next door at one of its sister properties, the Sheraton Waikiki. There is a Spring and a Summer program that both offers on and off property activities. Guests also have full access to the complete Fitness and Business Centers at the Sheraton Waikiki.
The Royal Hawaiian recently completed a $9 million rejuvenation project that included the refurbishment of wall coverings, tiles, lights, furniture, carpeting and bathrooms in all Royal Tower Rooms and public areas. All oceanfront Tower rooms and the Historic Wing feature Sheraton "Sweet Sleeper" beds, 13-inch pillow top mattresses, triple sheeting and down pillows. Old world luxury and modern comfort combine in both sections of the hotel with the Royal Tower featuring intimate lanais, coffee makers and contemporary décor.
The Historic Wing boasts elegant furnishings with four-poster beds and Queen Anne style writing desks. Room amenities include high speed wireless internet access (fee), cable satellite TV with premium channels, air conditioning, voice mail, compact refrigerators, complimentary toiletries, hair dryer, luxurious pink bathrobes, alarm/clock radio and much more.
Three restaurants are available on-site for dining. The casual Mai Tai Bar has wonderful views of the Pacific Ocean, tropical drinks and hot and cold appetizers. The Royal Hawaiian Beach Club is another casual establishment with light menus featuring American fare and simple island cuisine. For fine dining, the Surf Room offers an oceanfront location with a showcase of continental classics and contemporary Hawaiian cuisine, fresh from the islands.
As a Sheraton guest, you can take advantage of the "Stay at One, Play at All" program, which allows you to dine at any of The Royal Hawaiian's sister properties - Sheraton Waikiki, Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort - and charge it back to your room.
The Royal Hawaiian has a limited number of smoking rooms available, with at least 80% of the rooms being nonsmoking. Smoking is prohibited on lanais/balconies, restaurants, lounges, bars and other public areas on the property. A designated smoking area is provided.
Note: Beginning June 1, 2008, The Royal Hawaiian will close to begin restoration on one of the world's most iconic hotels. The hotel will close for seven months and return on January 1, 2009 as one of the world's elite collection of hotels for luxury and romance.
